 Straordinario esempio di gotico pisano, la piccola chiesa di S. Maria della Spina fu edificata nel 1230 sul greto dell’Arno in corrispondenza di un importante ponte, il Ponte Novo,  distrutto nel corso del XV secolo e mai più ricostruito. I recenti restauri hanno riportato a nuova vita questo piccolo gioiello di arte gotica noto oltre i confini nazionali
